We combine state-of-the-art neurophysiology assessment techniques to:

  • Better understand the mechanisms of balance control and locomotion  in healthy individuals
  • Determine how interactions between these neural structures are altered after brain or spinal cord injury
  • Develop treatment strategies to optimize the efficiency of neural pathways that have been spared by the lesion

Results:

  • A basis for refining and tailoring rehabilitation protocols to each individual, based on the characteristics of their lesion
  • Understanding how functional deficits occur is key to developing more effective treatment strategies, reducing disability and improving quality of life
